+ Comparisons (Comparative forms)
Compare with is when we compare this to that, this to that.
Structure: as + ADJ/ADV + as or so + ADJ/ADV + as
Ex: This dress is as expensive as yours. (This dress is as expensive as yours.)
Compare more is when we compare one over the other, for example better, better, more beautiful.
Structure:
- If the word has only 1 syllable: ADJ/ADV + -er ending + than. Ex: Cats are cleverer than dogs (Cats are wiser than dogs)
- If the word has 2 or more syllables: more + ADJ/ADV + than. Ex: Gold is more valuable than iron. (Gold is more valuable than iron)
Superlative is when we compare something to be above all others.
Structure:
- If the word has only 1 syllable: the + ADJ/ADV + -est. Ex: John is the youngest child in the class. (John is the youngest child in the class.)
- If the word has 2 or more syllables: the + most + ADJ/ADV. Ex: Lisa is the most careful person I have ever known. (Lisa is the most careful person I have ever known)

- Uncountable noun: milk, water, bread…
+ How to use a/an/some/any
- a + FEMALE (singular). Ex: a car (A car)
- security + FEMALE (singular that begins with a vowel). Ex: an orange (an orange)
- some + FEMALE (plural or uncountable in affirmative sentences). Ex: I have some bananas. (I have some bananas.)
- any + FEMALE (plural or uncountable in negative and interrogative sentences). Ex: Do you have any tea? (Do you have tea?)
+ How many? How much? (How many, how much)
- How many used when you want to ask about the quantity of something, applied to countable nouns. Ex: How many people are there in your family? (How many people are in your family?)
- How much Used when you want to ask about the number of uncountable nouns. Ex: How much water do you drink every day ? (How much water do you drink each day?)
+ Passive voice (Passive sentence) Used when you want to emphasize the action in the sentence, not the cause of the action.
Structure: S + tobe + V3/V-ed (+by O)
Ex: The storm destroyed the city last night. (The storm destroyed the city last night.)
